2010 Olympic Hockey Slap Shot Pin #3
The third pin from the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics pin set labeled "Slap Shot: The Hardest Shot in Hockey" depicts the hockey player's stick near ice level as it approaches contact with an awaiting hockey puck (which you have to use your imagination to see). Each pin in this set has value of $10.00 USD.

1988 Canada's Olympic Team Pins
These are the two variations of the Canada's Olympic Team pictogram pin from the 1988 Winter Games held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The pin on the left is a cloisonné and is featured as pin number 41 on page 6 of the Pin Collectors Guide of the 1988 Olympic Winter Games, published by The Coca-Cola Company. According to the December 31, 1990 Final Update to the previously referenced pin guide, there were a total of 44,420 of these pins produced. As for the fine enamel version of this pin shown on the right, I am unaware of how many of these pins were produced. The pin on the left has a value of $8.00 USD, and the pin on the right's value is $12.00 USD.

2002 Winter Olympics 10th Anniversary Celebration
Last night was the 2002 Winter Olympic Games celebration event at the Kearns Olympic Oval. In addition to a wonderful Olympic Celebration Show on Ice featuring both past and future Olympians, there were athletes signing autographs, figure skating and speed skating clinics, a curling clinic, 2002 memorabilia displays and, of course, pin trading. One of my favorite 2002 Olympic posters was also on display, which is the goaltender pictured here.
There were several Olympic pin trading tables set up and well known traders such as Janet Grissom, Eileen Brennan and Dolan Hudson (pictured in the black baseball cap) were on hand to mesmerize the crowds with their pin displays and certainly to trade a few Olympic pins.
At the celebration I was able to trade for the two pins pictured here, each of which feature an Olympic hockey figure.
The pin on the right is the original silver skyline athlete pin of which there were 6000 made, and the pin on the left is another Salt Lake City skyline pin featuring a hockey pictogram of which there were only 2002 made. The first pin has a value of $10.00 USD, and the second has a value of $12.00 USD.

2012 Salt Lake City Olympics 10th Anniversary Pin
Although this is not really a hockey pin, I am featuring it today because it reminds me of one of the most incredible Olympic hockey experiences of my life--the 2002 Winter Games. Currently, Salt Lake City, Utah is celebrating the tenth anniversary of its hosting of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. There have been numerous Olympic themed events including a ceremony to re-light the Olympic flame, athlete presentations and, of course, pin trading events. At the re-lighting ceremony there was even an announcement of the formation of an exploratory committee that will gauge interest in making a Salt Lake City bid for the 2022 Winter Games . . . that would be AWESOME!!! Last night, members of the Salt Lake Olympic Pin Club got together for dinner to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the 2002 Games and to share stories of pin trading both from 2002 and from Olympic Games since then. It was a great night, and this anniversary experience has been a good reminder of the Olympic spirit that consumed our city in 2002.

1976 Soviet Union Hockey Player Buttons
In 1976, for the Winter Games held in Innsbruck, Austria, the Soviet Union was the first country to produce buttons for each individual player on its Olympic Hockey team. Three of these buttons are featured here. Each of these individual player buttons from 1976 are worth around $4.00 USD. In 2002, Team Canada revived the individual hockey player pins and has produced complete sets in honor of the players on its 2002, 2006 and 2010 Olympic hockey teams.

1988 Soviet Union NOC Team Pin
From the 1988 Winter Games in Calgary, Alberta, Canada comes this Soviet Union Olympic team member pin. This pin design was used for the Soviet NOC pin from 1972 through 1988. It is a heavy metal pin with a unique holograpic effect extending from Soviet star. The value on this pin is $15.00 USD, but I have seen it sell for up to $138.99--an incredible price!

1994 United States Olympic Hockey NOC Pin
This hockey pin is one of a multiple pin winter sport discipline set created for the United States Olympic team for the 1994 Winter Games held in Lillehammer, Norway. To me, this set of pins is one of the most unimaginative sets ever created for the USOC. Frankly, the pin is quite boring and because it is so easy to obtain its value is only about $5.00 USD, which is pretty low for any NOC pin.
