1998 Coca-Cola Ice Hockey Player Pin
This pin is one of 49 hockey pins that Coca-Cola produced for the 1998 Winter Games in Nagano, Japan. Unlike many of the other 49 Coke hockey pins, the skater depicted on this pins is unique to this pin alone (many of the other Coca-Cola hockey pins depict the official Nagano hockey pictogram or other hockey players that are found on numerous other Coke and non-Coke hockey pins). The value on this pin is $12.00 USD as it is one of the more difficult Coca-Cola hockey pins to find from the 1998 Winter Games.

2010 Men's Olympic Hockey Participating Nations Pins
These participating nations pins comes from the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver, Canada, and each feature the flags of all the countries that participated in the men's Olympic hockey tournament. The pin shown here on the left was previously discussed in my April 15, 2011 post. Recently, I acquired the pin on the right, which differs in that the lettering at the bottom of the pin is yellow instead of white. Also, the inscriptions on the backs of the pins are different. The pin on the left was made for original distribution within the United States (thus the United States statute reference in the inscription), while the pin on the right was originally produced for distribution in Canada. I would say the value of each pin is $15.00 USD. However, during the Vancouver Games, I actually saw the pin on the left sell for $80.00 USD--incredible, huh?

2002 Generic 3-D Hockey Snowflake Pins
These pins were produced for the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City, Utah. Each pin has a pewter hockey player that is affixed to the top of an orange and yellow snowflake cloisonné. Note, however, the difference between the two pins. In the portion of the snowflake that borders the hockey player's back, on one of the pins it is orange and on the other it is yellow. Thus, these pins were likely produced at different times in different batches, but each has the same inscription of the back of the pin. These pins have a value of $12.00 USD per pin.

1992 Yoplait Olympic Hockey Pins
These pins comes from the 1992 Winter Olympics held in Albertville, France. With a keen eye you will notice several variations between the two pins that, generally, only the most avid collector would detect. The inscriptions on the back sides of the pins are also different. I have seen the pin on the left sell for $8.00 USD, and the pin on the right sell for up to $12.00 USD.

1988 Calgary Canada Generic Hockey Pin
This "unofficial" pin comes from the 1988 Winter Games in Calgary, Canada. The maker of the pin was a bit too optimistic as the Canadians failed to finish in first place on their home ice in 1988. Instead, the Soviet Union (gold), Finland (silver) and Sweden (bronze) took the medals and the Canadian hockey team finished in 4th place. The pin has a value of $6.00 USD.

1968 Soviet Union Champions Commemorative Pin
This pin commemorates the Soviet Union's gold medal at the 1968 Winter Games in Grenoble, France. The pin has a value of $4.00 USD though, incredibly, I have seen this pin sell for $56.50 USD--that goes to show you how hard it is to set an actual price for a pin. You never know what a pin is worth until you actually sell it.

1984 Sarajevo Winter Games Generic Hockey Pin
This pin was produced for the 1984 Winter Games in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. With the scarcity of pins from the 1984 Winter Olympics, I am quite often surprised at how little interest is generally shown to this pin. To me, this is a great pin to add to your collection, and can usually be obtained for $8.00 USD or less.

1994 Final Olympic Tournament Hockey Pin
This pin comes from the 1994 Winter Games in Lillehammer, Norway. The pin has two clutch and post fasteners, which are necessitated by the huge size of this pin. It has a $15.00 USD value, though I have seen it sell for over $48.00 USD.

1998 Shell Oil Hockey Pin
If you haven't seen this pin before, well, I guess welcome to your very first day of pin collecting! This pin was made for Shell Oil and was one of a series of sports pins produced for the 1988 Winter Games in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. And, this pin is everywhere! According to the Coca-Cola Company's Pin Collector’s Guide of the 1988 Winter Olympic Games there were 325,100 of these pins made. That must be a typo, right? Well, based on the pin's extremely high production count, and the simplicity of tracking this pin down, I would say the pin has a value of not more than $5.00 USD.
